FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions ( FAQs)

Q: What are extensions?

A: Hair extensions are methods of adding commercial hair to natural hair. These methods are used to conceal thinning or hair loss in concentrated areas as well used to add volume and length for aesthetic purposes.

Q: Will hair extensions damage my hair?

A: As there is no glue,  there should be no damage to your own hair assuming reasonable care is taken.

Q: Is there a visible difference between the extensions and my own hair ?

A: The extensions will blend in with your own hair and with a good hair cut they will go unnoticed.
But please note that your own hair should be at least 8cm long to cover the bonding.

Q: Is the application painful?

A: No, not if the strands are correctly attached approximately 0.5 cm from the scalp.

Q: How do I wash my hair?

A: It’s best to use a specialist shampoo for extensions. Never wash your hair in a rotary movement as this
Will tangle the extensions and could also destroy the bonding. After the wash, squeeze carefully to get rid of excess water-don’t rub.

Q: How do I prepare my hair for extensions?

A: You should wash your hair with a special deep cleansing shampoo.
This gets rid of all the deposits of care and styling products that cling to your hair and enables a good grip for the bonding.

Q: How do I comb my extensions?

A: Use a special hair extension brush. Don’t brush while the hair is still fully wet, wait until it is damp. Untangle it with your fingers, then carefully use the brush to untangle the tips. Hold your hair and avoid pulling . The bonding is weaker while wet!

Q: How do care for my extensions?

A: Extensions need special care as they , unlike your own hair , don’t get nourishment through hair roots. But avoid hair care products that contain oil or alcohol as both can weaken and damage the bonding and alcohol also makes your extensions dry.

Q: Can I colour my extensions?

A: Yes, you can, but keep the following in mind: colour can generally damage hair; extensions might absorb colour differently from your own hair resulting in different colours; the bonding doesn’t take another colour; products that bleach hair could damage the bonding. An experienced hairdresser probably knows best how to colour your extensions

Q: What do I do before going to bed?

A: Tie Your hair up to prevent tangling before you go to sleep.

Extensions can last up to 3-4 months if they are properly cared for. Depending on how quickly your hair grows they might have to be taken out and re-attached higher up otherwise the bonding might become visible.
